My Biography

I have been a full time professional photographer since 1985 and live in Kington, Herefordshire with my three children Lisa, Lewis and Natalie. After studying at Hereford Collage of Art and Design I took up a position as an assistant with a local photographer. Unfortunatley, after 12 months he closed the business down and I ended up working in the local factory. I was very determined to have a career in photography so set up my own part time freelance business working for local newspapers. This paid off as 18 months into this enterprise I was offered a full time staff photographers job with the Powys County Times. I moved to Welshpool where I covered all sorts of assignments for the newspaper, including numerous royal visits. After an enjoyable 22 months I was fortunate enough to be offered a staff photographers job on the Hereford Journal. This I accepted and I set about covering stories in Herefordshire and Mid Wales with relish. Two years into the job I was offered a post on the groups evening newspaper the Shropshire Star. I was keen and eager and picked up many tips from my fellow professionals. While working with the Shropshire Star I was lucky enough to be chosen to cover many assignments abroad including Champions League Football, a week with the Army and RAF in Cyprus and boxing in Germany. Events in early 2001 changed all this as I found myself a single parent looking after my daughters Lisa and Natalie and my son Lewis. I moved from the Shropshire Star back to the Journal series based at Hereford to spend more time with my children. I now take pictures for the Hereford, Ross on Wye, Leominster and South Shropshire Journals and occasionaly help out on the Mid Wales Journal. I very much value my time with the children and have been helped along by my mum and dad, brother Steve and girlfriend Karen. Karen is a journalist with the Mid Wales Journal based in Llandrindod Wells, she is very committed and is doing an excellent job there.
